Wounded Bird

By Ronald Percuoco

  1. Wounded bird up in the sky
With fractured wings attempts to fly.
He tries to chirp but merely cries
Yet the courage within him never dies.

  2. So many tears, so many years
When his brain just didn’t mesh its gears
But bravely he fights his deepest fears
    Quietly inspiring his loving peers.

  3. When he’s reached the end of his rope
All he has left is faith and hope.
But this smart bird is no dope.
He learned years ago how to cope.

  4. And when he’s survived his darkest night
And black clouds turn to milky white,
He soars up to a dizzying height
    Through the heavenly clouds
    Toward the guiding light.

  5. And on those days when things are right,
He flies up proudly out of sight,
Thanking God for his family and friends
Whose loving support helped his fragile
    Wings to mend.

  6. And on those days when things are right
He flies up proudly out of sight,
Thanking God for his family and friends
Whose loving support helped his fractured Wings to mend.
